Project COAST (Cost Optimized Avionics SysTem)

Project ERA (Enhanced RPAS Automation)

The project was led by EDA (European Defense Agency) in cooperation with the largest European companies from the aviation industry and research units. The Rzeszów University of Technology (Department of Avionics and Control) is the leader of one of the seven main tasks, coordinating the work of cooperating units to create the concept of an automatic landing and take-off system, including the process of moving along the runway of aircraft.  The main goal of the project was to create a concept for the operation of the system, functional adaptation of the carrier (MP-02A) and modification of the control system in order to perform final tests of the target automation of aircraft traffic in the airport zone.

Project MYSTERY

The aim of the project was to develop methods, devices and an aircraft control system taking into account high-risk situations. High-risk situations include in particular: corkscrew and stall, damage to the control planes and rudders, damage to the drive, partial damage to the measuring systems. The methods and algorithms of navigation and control developed in the project can be implemented primarily in airplanes equipped with Fly-by-Wire systems for general aviation aircraft and in unmanned aerial vehicles. Both measurement algorithms, spatial orientation control algorithms enabling control in a given situation, and algorithms for making autonomous navigation decisions, activated in the event of a higher risk situation, were proposed and tested. The proposed algorithms were tested using a research simulator, Hardware-Software In the Loop Simulation stands and flight tests were carried out. Project financed by NCBiR in 2013-2016 (Applied Research Program), members of the consortium: Rzeszów University of Technology (leader), Warsaw University of Technology, Institute of Aviation, Eurotech, sp.z o.o.

Project LOT
The project aim was to create an automatic aircraft control system, an autonomous mobile flight control station, a two-way teletransmission system (carrier - ground station) and an observation head control system. The observer plane equipped with the observation apparatus moves autonomously along a given flight trajectory, observing the terrain or following an object. The carrier (ultralight plane MP-02 Czajka) cooperates with the Mobile Ground Flight Control Station (all-terrain vehicle) through the link of data and video teletransmission. Development project no. Project SCARLETT (SCAlable ond ReconfigurabLe elEctronics plaTforms and Tools)
The elevator control project for a large communication aircraft. System based on a computer working in the real-time VxWorks system, taking into account the requirements of the ARINC 653 standard (the standard used in the latest AIRBUS aircraft) - project under the 7th Framework Program of the European Union ACP7-GA-2008-211439

Project SPS-1A
In the Department of Avionics and Control, a system design was developed, a prototype for an airplane was built, and in July 2003, the first test flights with a Fly-By-Wire system for light aircraft were made. The system included the construction of systems and executive mechanisms for controlling the control surfaces and engine speed, a computer control system, a joystick control system with the elimination of dangerous behavior of the driver. It was the first attempt to build such a control system in the country.

Project BAL
The system includes a set of measurement systems: aerodynamic data measurement (ADC), airframe spatial position measurement (AHRS), navigation measurements (GPS + IRU) and a calculator system (16-bit microprocessor system), executive systems, and a transmission module from/to the ground control station in flight. The construction works were completed in 1997, then a prototype of the system was made (1998), which was subjected to comprehensive laboratory tests on a specialized integration stand. Then a second prototype was made, adapted for installation in the PZL-110 "Koliber" plane. The necessary adaptation works were carried out on the plane (under the supervision of IKCSP) and in the summer of 1999 a flight test program was carried out. The APC-4 control and navigation system conduct autonomous navigation by carrying out a programmed mission (the pilot controlled the powerplant and acted as a safety pilot) and controls the plane in every phase of the flight, except take-off and landing. Initial tests were also made to automate these phases of the unmanned aerial vehicle flight.

Project APC-01
The APC-1 digital autopilot was designed to control the plane in all flight conditions, including automatic approach to landing according to ICAO Category I. The autopilot was equipped with an extensive diagnostic system ensuring safe operation in flight. The autopilot was developed and tested in flight by the team of the Department of Avionics and Control of the Rzeszów University of Technology was made by the ATM Warszawa company.
